Charges for non-residential care services

Adults and Older People

Non-residential care services help you remain living independently in your own home.  These services include homecare and personal support (including night sitting services), telecare and community alarms, day care, day services.

Financial Assessment

How much you will pay will depend on your financial assessment. Your maximum weekly payment towards the cost of your services will be calculated and sent to you.

Calculate your contribution

The Online Contribution Calculator is a free, confidential, and easy-to-use online tool that helps you find out if you would be required to contribute for services provided to you by the local authority.

Based upon the details you enter about your income, expenditure and savings, it will estimate whether or not a contribution would be required.

It uses exactly the same details and calculation steps that local authorities would use to calculate the contribution.

The Online Contribution Calculator is intended to help people who want to know more about the possible cost of receiving care, either at home or in a residential home, for themselves or a relative.

Online Contribution Calculator

If you choose not to have a financial assessment we will ask you to pay the full cost of the services you have.

If you are living with a partner who is not receiving services, we will work out your contribution based on:

  1. both of your incomes and savings, and
  2. on your own income and savings.

We will ask you to pay whichever is the lowest cost to you.

See the factsheet Financial Assessments for residential and non-residential care service - April 2023 for more information.

Please remember that this information is a general guide only and that in some circumstances different rules will apply. You can read full and detailed information in the Trafford Council Care and Support Charging and Financial Assessment Framework.

Will my savings affect the cost?

If your have savings of £23,250 or more we will ask you to pay the full cost of your services.

If you have less than £23,250 the amount you pay will depend on your financial assessment.

Debt Recovery

Trafford Council needs to show to residents, elected members and tax payers of the Borough that it collects all income due from whatever source as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Effective financial management is fundamental to being able to fund the quality of services the Council provides.

The best method of debt collection is the prevention of debt. The Council has a Care and Residential Services Debt Management and Recovery Policy which covers both prevention and recovery.
