Local offer feedback - gaps in Trafford

This section covers the areas that you have told us are gaps in the provision of services to meet the needs of all children and young people with SEN or who are disabled in Trafford.

The Local Offer is not meant to be just a source of information or directory of services. It should also identify - through your feedback - whether there are any potential gaps in services.

  • Didn't know about different levels on Short Breaks criteria - all word of mouth, providers used to visit schools to talk about services
  • Children with autism are falling through the net with current Short Breaks provision
  • Children and young people who can't access services end up having more mental health problems as they are not getting out
  • For most complex/multiple additional needs (Level 4, short breaks eligibility criteria) there is no support at home, nothing local
  • Lack of services in Trafford - out of area
  • Gap with children in the middle level

Revised Short Breaks Duty Statement and Eligibility criteria due from September 1 2017. Parent/Professional/Provider consultation events held to inform changes - see report

  • Feel that there is a gap in Urmston. Also whole family activities and in moderate ASC.
  • For my postcode (in the Urmston area) there is a real lack of services generally - childcare, activities, holiday activities.
