Free School Meals October Half Term 2020

No child to go hungry this half term

Families who usually receive a means tested free school meal from their school or college can claim one £15 Tesco voucher per child for October half term.

This scheme is for children who attend a Trafford school or college, regardless of where they live. If you attend school or college in a different area, please check with the council where your school or college is located to see if they have a scheme.

Trafford Citizens Advice and Community Response Hubs

Trafford Community Response Line supporting residents self-isolating due to the coronavirus has been launched. It gives people a direct line to the help available during their period of self-isolation due to the virus.

Residents can call 0300 3309073 for assistance with shopping, telephone support and food parcels.

Trafford Assist

Trafford Assist is Trafford's Local Welfare Assistance scheme designed to help residents:

•Meet immediate short-term needs in an emergency or as a result of a disaster.

•Return to or remain in the community and help them to live independently in their own home.

Co-Op Food Cards

SMCP, Our Sale West, LCCCF and TUF-C have a limited supply of Co-Op cards for young people aged 11-16 to buy themselves a meal (sandwich and drink). Individual organisations to be contacted about this directly although they are already working with young people and have identified potential recipient of these.  


Local Cafes and Restaurants Offering Support

The Hatch @ Minikin Art Café, Sale – 57, Cross Street Sale. Young people can go to side hatch and say ‘Marcus sent me’ to request a free meal.

Working with Minikin- the Sunshine Café in Sale can provide free meals, please message Our Sale West’s Community Information Hub face book page to ask for more detail.

Astoria Bar, Urmston – offering free children’s meals between 9am – 3pm.

Adventure Play Forest, Trafford Park are giving out free lunchboxes.

County Grills,  Urmston will provide a meal free of charge from their children’s menu between Monday 26th and Friday 30th October.

Haldi Lounge and Grill, Urmston are offering free meals between 4.30pm – 6.30pm.

The Railway Club in Stretford ask you to contact them to arrange food parcels.

Jerk Junction (Old Trafford/Chorlton border) are offering a free meal Tues – Friday between 2 – 4pm.  Get in touch with them via Insta or Facebook.

The Courtyard tearooms in Wythenshawe Park are also offering free lunches for children.

As-Salaam Centre, Moss Road, Stretford are offering packed lunches, Monday to Friday 12-12.30 (message 07894 706169 to book).

The Maharajaa, Moss Road, Stretford. From 26th October to 1st November are offering free children’s meals (adults do not need to order).  Call 0161 865 8500 to arrange.

Gorse Hill Studios, Cavendish Road, Stretford have grab bag lunches Monday 26th October from 2.3.30 and Tuesday 27th October from 11.30-1.00.
