Hello from Trafford Parents Forum!

What a busy half term it has been for us, here at the forum.

Over Easter, families sent us their photographs from their daily walks, to show us how they sense Trafford. We saw butterflies, to swinging, sand to sunshine... The pictures all gave us a good idea of just how our SEND families in Trafford, sense the world around them. Three lucky entrants won a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts delivered to their door... Yummy!

Happy Children

In May we celebrated World Mental Health Week, by asking our parent carers what they do for some self-care. A coffee with friends, a bubble bath, a long walk, a visit to the coast, a social media break, ice cream and cuddles with a favourite pet, were all suggested. It is great to hear that parent carers can find ways to make some time for themselves. It is so important!

Happy Dogs

We held a drop in, with Rhonda and Shannon from the Educational Psychology Team last month, as part of the Emotional Based School Refusal (EBSNA) pilot. Parent carers were able to discuss and give their views on the tool kit and the pilot generally. It was both a useful and emotional session and as ever we were in awe of our parent carers and their wealth of experience, when it comes to their children and young people. Thank you so much to everyone who took part.

On Thursday, 24 June 2021 between 13:00 and 14:00, we will be joined at our drop in by Susanna from KIDS SEND Mediation. They are the new mediation service in Trafford. Susanna will be talking to you about the service and answering any questions you may have. It is a valuable opportunity to understand mediation, what it is and why it is used. Susanna is also keen to hear lived experiences from those who have previously been through mediation in Trafford.  You can book your place here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/156507810073.
