Trafford GOT (Get Out There) Short Breaks

Trafford GOT (Get Out There) Holiday short break service for children and young people with autism, delivered by SENSE, will be running for the first time since they were awarded the contract in September 2020. They will be delivering Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the week beginning 12 April 2021.

A waiting list has been building whilst families have been applying to this service during lockdown, and places for this holiday scheme have been allocated. SENSE will contact you directly if you have a place. The next sessions will run in the May half term. Although there is a waiting list for places, you can still apply to this service via the Short Breaks application form on the Trafford Council website.

Starling's Trafford Creative Minds are running their fun workshops again!

From Wednesday 7 April our workshops will be running once more and we would particularly love to welcome more new faces to our 13 to 17 year old workshops, 4pm to 5.30pm in Old Trafford.

Workshops are aimed at young people who identify as neurodivergent* and provide a creative and social experience for all involved.

They are facilitated by a professional artist and can involve anything from puppet making to storytelling to animation. Our workshops offer a safe, friendly space for young people to discover new interests, develop friendships and feel valued.

"My son struggles with social and emotional communication and was feeling depressed before joining the group. They can struggle with friendship groups and have low confidence. Being a part of a welcoming group of like-minded people has helped boost their confidence and feel like they 'fit in'. They normally struggle to enjoy after school activities and refuse to join in, but they have made some lovely friends. Getting creative is a favourite pastime so it's been a fantastic experience all round for them." - Parent of young person aged 15.

The older group for 18 to 25 year olds also runs from Wednesday 7 April, 5.45- 7.15pm in Old Trafford.

We are currently able to provide free transport to any young person in Trafford who is unable to reach us by other means.
