Food banks 

South, Central and West Trafford

Trafford South Food Bank operate from 5 community hubs on each week day:

  • Sale Moor: Mondays, 12pm to 2pm at Sale Moor Methodist Church, M33 2PP
  • Sale West: Tuesdays, 11am to 1pm at Sale West Youth and Community Centre, M33 4QW
  • Altrincham: Wednesdays, 10.30am to 12.30pm at St Alban’s Church Hall, WA14 5NX
  • Partington: Thursdays, 10.30am to 12.30pm at The Fuse ROC Centre, M31 4BU
  • Timperley: Fridays 10am to 12pm at Timperley Methodist Church, WA15 7UG

To access Trafford South Food Banks you need to have a voucher that are held by Community hubs , social care and health organisations,  as well as some charities or libraries.

North Trafford

StretfordTuesdays and Fridays, 10.30am to 1.30pm.

You can talk to Citizens Advice Trafford | Trafford Directory for vouchers to access Food banks as well as advice around more support.

Trafford Assist

Trafford Assist provides financial support for:

  • Emergency help for food
  • Emergency help towards gas, electric and water bills
  • Essential travel expenses
  • White goods and furniture

Food hampers and pantries

The Bread and Butter Thing

Weekly mobile food pantry open for all residents. £7.50 for a weekly collection of three bags of food including dry food, fresh fruit, veg and refrigerated food. Smaller or larger options are available for those living alone or larger families.

Supermarket and cafe provision

Sydney's Sandwiches at Uplift Stretford Mall

During the hols, Sydney will be doing free breakfast for kids between 09.00-10.00. No questions! Just ask for Syd's breakfast. 

Sandwich bags will also be available - just ask for Syd's sandwich bag. 

Ask for Ellen at Morrisons Cafes

Ask for Ellen to receive two free Warburtons crumpets with butter and jam.

Kids eat free or for £1 - Moneysavingexpert.com

Every summer many restaurants, cafes and shopping outlets offer family dining deals where 'kids eat free' or 'for £1' with a paying adult. Consumer website Moneysavingexpert.com usually tracks where you can find these deals - visit their Restaurant deals page and scroll down to the Kids eat 'free' or for '£1' section.

Asda - Feeding Communities

The ASDA Foundation's grants programmes aims to support grassroots charitable organisations working at the heart of its stores' communities. Registered charities, community groups, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit organisations in the UK can apply for support with initiatives that will make a real long-term difference, benefiting the wider community.

The Feeding Communities Grant has been designed to help provide meals to anyone in need.

Free School Meals

Apply for Free School Meals in Trafford

Free School Meals are available for low-income families who receive certain benefits. When a pupil is found eligible for Free School Meals, their school can also claim extra funding.

Pupils found eligible for Free School Meals are also entitled to support during the school holidays in the form of a payment or voucher. Schools will share information on how to claim this support before each school holiday.

If you’re pregnant or have a child under 4, the Healthy Start scheme can help you buy foods like milk, vitamins, vegetables or fruit.
