African and Caribbean Mental Health Service
African and Caribbean Mental Health Services (ACMHS) is a community based organisation providing free confidential and culturally appropriate services predominantly to African and African Caribbean people aged 18 and above suffering from mental ill health.
ACMHS was established in October 1989 as a direct result of concerns expressed in the community about the frequency with which second generation African and African Caribbean youths were admitted to psychiatric hospitals and the regional forensic unit.
ACMHS provides:
- Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)
- Severe and Enduring Mental Health services
- Drop Ins
- Groups for carers, women and men

To access the IAPT team, individuals must be registered with a Manchester GP.
We provide services predominantly to African and African Caribbean people as well as other minority groups including White Europeans.
