Digital Trafford
Digital Trafford
Trafford Council are committed to improving the digital skills of everyone, working alongside the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s ambition to become 100% digitally enabled city-region.
In order for us to achieve this goal, we have launched some local initiatives:
Get online with support from a Digital Champion
Do you know someone who would like help to get online? Our Digital Champions are on hand to support both beginners and improvers to enhance their digital skills.
Fill in the referral form or give us a call on 0161 912 3189 to request support.
Laptop loan scheme
In early 2021 the libraries launched a laptop lending scheme for Trafford residents. You are eligible for the scheme if you are:
- A Trafford resident
- Aged 16 or over
It’s totally free and all you need to do is register for the library.
If you would like more information about the scheme visit the council website.
You can also email libraries@trafford.gov.uk, call us on 0161 912 3189 or visit your local Trafford Library.
We have also launched our Digital Trafford webpage where you can find lots of resources and advice about getting started online, free online training, staying safe online and much more.
Free SIM cards with data for low-income residents
Trafford Council can provide low-income residents who are struggling to stay connected a free SIM loaded with texts, calls and data for 6 months, thanks to the National Databank. Think of it like a ‘food bank’ but for internet connectivity data.
You are eligible for a free SIM card if you are:
- A Trafford resident
- Aged 18 or over
- Struggling to stay connected with your mobile phone
All Trafford and Greater Manchester residents can enter their postcode into the Databank Map produced by O2 to find their nearest databank or you can email digitaltrafford@trafford.gov.uk to request one.
