Behind Bars - Music Mentoring Scheme
Gorse Hill Studios are currently supporting 6 young people to build career foundations in music and gain knowledge and experience as a professional artist. Each young artist receives 1-to-1 support from a mentor along with free studio time and a support for a musical release over the space of 10 sessions.
The process will empower young people to be proactive in their careers while learning new skills, enabling young people at risk to build a business from a hobby and learn crucial transferable skills for employment.
Behind Bars is a durational piece of work curated by Gorse Hill studios and funded by Trafford Council. Behind Bars consists of a range of music projects, activities and events all aimed around reducing the risk of crime and violence for young people. Through these projects and events we will encourage positive decision making, reduce criminal involvement, provide professional work experience and teach employability and entrepreneurial skills.
