Trafford Children's First Response
Children's First Response (formerly MARAT) is Trafford’s single point of contact for all professionals and members of the public to report concerns, request advice and share information about a child and/or family.
If the child is at immediate risk of harm call the Police on 999.
If you are a member of the public who has a concern about a child, and they are not at immediate risk of harm, you should call Trafford Children's First Response on 0161 912 5125 during office hours (Mon - Fri 8:30 - 4:30) or 0161 912 2020 out of hours (Emergency Duty Team).
Depending on the nature of your enquiry or request we will also:
- Give advice and guidance
- Provide information on available services
- Put you in contact with other agencies or services which may be of help
- Put you in contact with the relevant professional dealing with a family

Our general helpline is open 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours you can contact the Emergency Duty Team for urgent enquiries.
Where required Trafford Children's First Response will provide appropriate services to help people make contact with them, for example an interpreter.
Please note we are not located in a publicly accessible part of the building.

If you are a professional you must decide on the child/family's Level of Need and use the online referral process. Levels of Need are used to determine the kind of support a child or family requires.
However, if it is your professional judgement that Trafford Children's First Response requires this information immediately you must call 0161 912 5125. After your discussion you will be advised to return to the Levels of Need page to complete the online form.
