What is SENDIASS

The SEND Code of Practice says that every local authority (LA), should make available an Information Advice and Support Service that is easily identifiable and at arms length from the rest of the LA SEND services. This ensures that you recieve a truly impartial service.

Our SENDIASS Steering Group is made up of representatives from local authority health, education and social care services along with an equal number of parent carers. The Steering Group is chaired independently and is responsible for auditing the service against the National Minimum Standards Framework, ensuring impartiality is maintained. The group is influential in shaping the development of the service.

We encourage and support joint working between you, the school/setting, the local authority and other agencies to develop positive relationships and outcomes. We work in close partnership with Trafford Parents' Forum

This video explains more about what an Information Advice and Support Services does:

An easy read version of the National Minimum Standards is also available.

Accessibility

Details

Due to social distrancing measures introduced by the Government to combat Covid19, the SENDIASS team are all currently working remotely from home.  This includes telephone calls and emails as the primary contact methods, although we are looking at ways to implement virtual meetings where necessary.

We all have access to the SENDIASS email account and the helpline will be answered as usual between 9am - 12 noon, although there are some services which will obviously not be offered at this time, such as home visits.

We will still aim to answer any queries within 3 working days.
