The Specialist Weight Management Service provide the Trafford Lifestyle Programme to people who have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or more. Or BMI 30 or more if you are from a BAME background.
The programme is community based across Trafford and is designed to support people to succeed with gradual, permanent weight loss using a lifestyle approach. People have their own tailored weight loss programme which develops lifestyles to support physical and mental well-being.
A multi-disciplinary approach is used that includes dietitians, nurses, physiotherapy and a team secretary.
The Service also provides a Bariatric Education Course for patient's interested in bariatric surgery, who meet the criteria for bariatric surgery and who have successfully completed the Trafford Lifestyle Programme and undertaken at least 6 months follow up with the GP Practice.
We are not able to prescribe Saxenda or similar medication for weight management at this time.
