Welcome to Later Life Living!

Introducing Later Life Living, a 'client centred' daycare service for the over 50’s specialising in those living with Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, loneliness, depression, lack of confidence and other debilitating illnesses.

Working for Passion, not Profit.

Later Life Living are members of both The Age Action Alliance and The Dementia Alliance.

We are a Mother and Daughter team, Dawn and Kyra.

Dawn was trained by and worked within the Trafford Community Mental Health Team for many years. Kyra worked in a private Dementia care setting as an Activities Coordinator and was a runner-up for the Great North West Care Awards 2010. In 2009 Kyra and Dawn both set up the Larkhill Dementia Cafe at Thorley Lane, Timperley.

Volunteers are always welcome.

Later Life Living also supports its local colleges and universities to include social care students and occupational therapists.

What we offer for the over 50’s

We offer social inclusion, reminiscence work, memory games, anxiety/depression management, baking, bowling, beauty therapies (i.e. hand/arm massage and nail care), light exercises, chair yoga, relaxation techniques, arts & crafts, singing for the brain, gardening, board games, puzzles, musical bingo, keyboard, pool, table tennis and life stories (to name a few!) We also offer the opportunity to contribute to the local community by completing arts and crafts which are then displayed in the local community.   At Later Life Living we always support our clients to make choices. However not all of our clients are able to make an informed choice because of their level of cognitive ability. As a result we will often have to make small decisions based on our growing knowledge of each individual clients likes, dislikes and past history.   We believe that by maintaining SMALL GROUPS all activities are personalised to include each individual - especially those that need extra support. Stimulating activities through social inclusion and recreational interaction promote confidence and lift mood.   We also offer an Emergency Respite Day Care service for any daytime emergencies at short notice.  Our facility is cleaned and sanitised at the end of each day, ready for the next user group.

Our Aims
Our aims are to increase social interaction, monitor mood, physical health, mental health and have fun, hopefully avoiding carer breakdown and hospital admissions, and living life to our full potential in our later years - hence our name...... Later Life Living.

Larkhill Dementia Cafe We also run the Larkhill Dementia Cafe - a voluntary organisation for anyone affected by dementia or memory problems.   It is held twice a month on Saturdays 10am-12pm (£3 per person) at The Larkhill Centre, Thorley Lane, Timperley (WA15 7AZ) for carers and cared for. Current dates can be found on the News section of our website.   Please phone Dawn for more information: 07708430887
