The complex needs (children's social care) team carry out early help and child/family assessments to help us support families and identify appropriate family, universal or specialist support.
The complex needs (children's social care) team have a statutory obligation to safeguard children and young people with disabilities and undertake child in need, child protected and looked after children duties.
If a child or young person, following assessment, is eligible for support from the team then a social care reviewing officer will support a family to devise a short break support plan. Sometimes, a payment - either a direct payment, or a personal budget - will be used to help families to access the support they need.
The Team are co-located at Sale Waterside alongside:
- Community Paediatricians
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
- Community Learning Disability Nursing Team
- Trafford Early Development Service
- Neuro-Developmental Pathway

The team work closely with these other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for the child and family.
