I Can Do It (Henshaws lifeskills course for children and young people)
I Can Do It (formerly known as 'Independence Matters for Children and Young People') is our independence course, funded by BBC Children in Need, for children aged 8 -12 and young people aged 13 -18. Our course is a great way to learn about friendships, safety, doing things for yourself, cooking and starting to think about growing up; all through fun activities!
The course covers:
• Social & emotional skills
• Keeping safe at home, outside and online
• Living independently with a VI
• Kitchen skills
• Dreaming in colour- transitions, goals and aspirations
Each course begins with a parent’s workshop to give your parents information and guidance, and you’ll get a certificate at the end.
Our courses run across Manchester and Merseyside, and either run for three consecutive Saturdays or for three days across half term, so they fit in with your schedule. I Can Do It is free and is available for anyone with sight loss aged between 8 and 18.
