SEND Communication and Engagement Group

The SEND Communication and Engagement working group will plan and coordinate an ongoing programme of engagement with children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities and their parents and carers. The feedback collected will be used in the self-assessment of SEND provision, paying particular attention to:

  • Commissioning - engaging with children and young people, and their parents and carers, to inform decisions about the strategic commissioning of services (joint strategic needs assessment)
  • User Voice - involving the individual child or young person, and their parents and carers, in the process of assessing their needs
  • Local Offer - communicating with children and young people, and their parents or carers, to ensure that these primary users are clear about the identification and assessment processes and the criteria used to make decisions

The working group is accountable to Trafford’s Local Area SEND Board.

A Co-Production Charter between Trafford Parent’s Forum and Trafford Council was drafted back in July 2015 and we are currently working to update it.

Membership of this group can be viewed in the Terms of Reference, alongside the most recent minutes.
