The Northern Trafford Talkshop Young People's Clinic (Urmston Clinic)

The Talkshop Young People's Clinic provides a one stop shop for young people aged 19 and under, providing free and confidential contraceptive and sexual health services. We work with the Talkshop youth workers to provide a young person friendly service, and you can talk to us about any problems or issues you might have.

We offer the following services free of charge:

  • Contraceptive advice and supplies
  • Contraceptive implants and injections
  • Emergency contraception 
  • Free condoms       
  • Pregnancy testing 
  • Termination of pregnancy information 
  • Chlamydia/RUClear screening 
  • General health advice - smoking, diet, breast awareness and testicular self examination  
  • Referral to other agencies

All of our services are free and confidential for all ages, including under 16s.

Interpreters are available upon request, please call us to arrange an appointment and let them know which language you need

Emergency Contraception

Don’t forget emergency hormonal contraception can be given up to 72 hours (sometimes 120 hours) after unprotected sex and is available free from all contraceptive and sexual health clinics and some pharmacies (even if you are under 16).

Copper coils can also be used for emergency contraception up to five days after unprotected sex, please call 0161 701 1555 to arrange (we don't provide this at Talkshop but we can arrange for you to visit one of our other clinics)

Referral Details

Young people can contact Urmston Clinic on 0161 749 1160 and make telephone appointment and can leave a voice message with their contact details if unable to get through and a staff member of will return their call. 

Once a young person has had a telephone appointment with Sexual Health Nurse only then will a face to face appointment be arranged.

Alternatively where appropriate a School Nurse, Youth Worker or Social Worker can contact Urmston to make the telephone appointment on the young person behalf
