STRIVE Trafford Domestic Incident Volunteers needed
Would you like a volunteering role that offers structure, progression and is a little different?
STRIVE is a Greater Manchester initiative designed to reduce police call-outs and support families where they may be domestic disruption. STRIVE volunteers visit the homes of these families and support them, offering early intervention and signposting them to relevant services within the community that may be able to help.
TLC: Talk, Listen, Change is Manchester’s own relationships charity and are responsible for providing this service in Trafford, Salford and Stockport and are recruiting for volunteers in both areas.
What’s the role?
Alongside another experienced volunteer, you will be visiting the homes of families who have previously been visited by the police, due to a low level domestic incident. We consider this role to be all about empowering people: the people we visit and the volunteers who are visiting them (that’s you!). Main duties include:
- To visit the home with the intention of understanding the source of conflict
- Supporting families and sign posting them to relevant support services and agencies
- To log in and out of the timekeeping hub
- To report back to the STRIVE Volunteer Coordinator on the visit
Within this role you will gain ‘hands on’ experience from the beginning and be supported with a specifically designed and robust volunteer structure, high quality training and the opportunity to progress, work closely with and be mentored by our Project Manager.
This role may suit those who have an interest in: Police, domestic abuse prevention, social work, criminology, psychology, forensics, anthropology, sociology, human behaviour, counselling or even those wanting to return to the workplace.
Former volunteers have gone on to have a range of careers including but not limited to; the police, clerical, domestic abuse and teaching etc....
