SMDSSG Chatterbox Club
Chatterbox Club is a social occasion for families with children who have Down's syndrome. It provides the opportunity for the children to get together with others of a similar age for group speech and language therapy (SLT), delivered by qualified speech and language therapists who have specialist training in the specific communication needs of people with Down's syndrome. Parents and carers can pick up useful ideas and advice from therapists on how to support their children's communication development.
During the morning parents and carers can have coffee and share information, ideas, tips and stories, while their children play or take part in various activities, such as arts and crafts (provided by Venture Arts), sing and sign, and yoga.
SLT session times differ for different age groups. Even if your child is not enrolled for SLT sessions, your family is very welcome to come along and join in the other activities. We'd love to see you!
To enrol for SLT sessions at Chatterbox, please contact enrol@dsmanchester.org.uk
South Manchester Down's Syndrome Support Group exists to empower children and young people with Down’s syndrome to reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives. We do this both directly by facilitating their access to social and educational opportunities and indirectly by helping their family members and carers to provide more effective support.
We organise regular social events throughout the year including Christmas parties, bowling, soft play and many more.
Chatterbox Club
One Saturday morning each month, we run a Chatterbox club. A family event with opportunities for families to socialise whilst children can access a wide range of activities including speech and language sessions, sing and sign classes, drama group, yoga and craft workshops.
