Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS)
In the event of a fire, dial 999.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is the largest Fire and Rescue Service outside London with over 2,500 members of staff and 41 fire stations. We cover an area of approximately 500 square miles and a culturally diverse population of 2.5 million people.
From modern inner city developments to traditional mill towns, Greater Manchester is made up of ten very different districts - Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. Our vision is to make Greater Manchester a safer place by being a modern, community focused and influential Fire and Rescue Service.
GMFRS also provide free provision and fitting of smoke alarms in the home. They will also discuss fire safety issues relevant to your situation. Their personnel will formulate an escape plan tailored to your individual circumstance.
This will provide you with the information to reduce the risk of fire and ensure that you stay safe in the event of a fire in your home.
