Park Road Academy Primary School

Park Road Academy logo

Park Road Primary Academy, with a capacity of 236, is intentionally designed as a primary school academy. It features eight instructional spaces, a spacious hall, supplementary learning zones, and two all-weather playgrounds/sports areas. Additionally, we have a dedicated nursery class catering to 3 to 4-year-olds. Further details can be found in our Nursery parent handbook and on our school website. Our breakfast, afterschool, and holiday clubs are provided with their designated spaces within the school.

Our commitment to creating a stimulating learning environment is evident through the pride we take in our school. We aim to transform it into a space where children are motivated to learn, encouraged to take ownership of their achievements and surroundings, and urged to share their successes with others.

To ensure a comprehensive educational experience, all teaching staff regularly convene for meetings, enabling them to craft learning opportunities, organize activities, and closely monitor the progress of the students.

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Admissions to the School will be determined by the Governing Body. All preferences listed on the Local Authority Preference Form will be given equal consideration, with the following set of Admissions Criteria establishing a priority order in case of more applications than available places.

Admissions will be prioritized in the following order:

1) 'Looked after' children, including previously looked after children. A looked after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in section 22 (1) of the Children Act 1989). A previously looked after child is a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangement orders, or special guardianship order.

2) Children residing in the catchment area of Park Road Academy Primary School who have a sibling attending Park Road Academy Primary School at the time of the applicant's proposed admission (including half/step/adopted/foster brothers or sisters and any other children living at the same address as part of the same family unit).

3) Children living outside the catchment area of Park Road Academy Primary School, with a sibling attending Park Road Academy Primary School at the time of the applicant's proposed admission (including half/step/adopted/foster brothers or sisters and any other children living at the same address as part of the same family unit).

4) Children residing in the catchment area of Park Road Academy Primary School.

5) Children of staff members who have been employed at the school for 2 or more years at the time of the application for admission and will be employed at the school at the time of the applicant's proposed admission.

6) Children residing nearest to the School, calculated in a direct straight line from the child’s permanent place of residence to the school, measured using property coordinates provided through a combination of the Trafford Local Land and Property Gazetteer (BS7666) and Royal Mail Postal Address Information. In the case of a child living in a block of flats, the distance will be measured in the same manner. The coordinates for Park Road Academy Primary School are X - 377390; Y - 389998.

If there are more applications than available places in any of the above categories, priority will be given based on the distance from home to school as defined in criterion 6.

In the case of a child living in a block of flats, coordinates will be obtained as mentioned above.

Where two or more applications cannot be otherwise separated, the final place will be determined through a random draw, conducted and scrutinized by officers from the Local Authority.

The criteria used for admission refer, in every case, to the child’s home address, denoting the address where the child normally and permanently lives on a full-time basis, not the address of any child-minder, grandparent, or relative.

In the case of separated parents with shared childcare arrangements, the address closest to the school will be used to calculate the child’s priority for Park Road Academy Primary School, irrespective of equal or unequal sharing of childcare responsibilities.

We assume that you will provide correct factual information when applying for a school place. We reserve the right to verify the information submitted and may request relevant evidence to ensure accurate allocation of places. If a place is offered based on fraudulent or misleading information, such as a false claim of residence, the offer will be withdrawn, and the place may be offered to another child. It's crucial to note that a place may be withdrawn even after your child has started school. The Governing Body accepts proof of removal into the area as evidence, including the exchange of contracts related to property purchase within the catchment area or a copy of a signed rental agreement (minimum 12 months) and proof of disposal of the previous home. The governing body retains the right to check occupancy arrangements, and their decision on such matters is final.

In cases of two siblings requiring places in the same academic year group and Park Road Academy Primary School having only one place available in that year group, the available place will be offered to the eldest child.

Inclusivity, Fairness, and Embracing Differences

At Park Road, we extend a warm welcome to all families, treating everyone with equality. We actively seek training opportunities for our staff and students, enabling them to develop practices that support the flourishing of every child. Our atmosphere is welcoming, with approachable staff, providing children a secure environment to explore both their own culture and that of their peers. The school is dedicated to actively addressing negative attitudes and behaviors towards differences. We strive to ensure that our resources, to the best of our ability, reflect diversity and avoid promoting negative stereotypes.

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

Regular monitoring and developmental assessments are conducted for all children.

If there are concerns about your child's progress or a specific educational need is identified, and action is required, your child may be placed on the appropriate stage of the SEND register. In such cases, you will be informed and your consent sought. Children facing learning difficulties will receive various forms of assistance based on their needs and the available resources.
