Accessibility Plan

Overview

Under the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 this school recognises the need to provide adequate resources for implementing an accessibility plan and we will ensure that the plan reflects our Disability, SEND and Equality Policies. In line with those policies we will take the necessary steps to ensure that every young person, their families and also employees are given equality of opportunity to develop socially, work, participate and learn and to enjoy community life.

Objectives

  1. Increase the extent to which SEND pupils can participate in the curriculum
  2. Improve the physical environment of school to enable SEN and disabled pupils to take better advantage of education, benefits, facilities and services provided
  3. Improve the availability of accessible information to SEN and disabled pupils

Risk assessment

The hall is safe for all member of the school.

The hall is approx. 168m². Using fire regulation guidance, 150m²/0.45 = 373 people in the hall at one time. We have 213 pupils not including nursery + 7 staff so we would be looking at a maximum of 153 extra people for a seated event.

Equal opportunities St Michael’s School prides itself in providing equal opportunities for all members of its family regardless of disability, religion, sexual orientation, culture, gender, ethnic origin, colour or age. All pupils have access to the curriculum, and the right to a learning environment, which dispels ignorance, prejudice or stereotyping.

This policy was adopted by: St Michaels C.E. Primary School.

Date: March  2018 – reviewed Nov 2018 by Curriculum committee
