Trafford Early Development Service (TEDS)

Trafford Eraly Development Service (TEDS) is part of Trafford Complex Needs Service.

Trafford Early Development Service (TEDS) is a registered Portage Service. We support Children and their families through Portage developmental play sessions at home, in Early Years settings or in targeted group sessions; depending on needs. We support families in coordinating their child's care and arrange Team Around the Child meetings as needed. We work closley with other professionals involved in a child's care.

We are able to offer this supprt to preschool children who have a significant developmental delay in 2 or more areas of their development and who have a Trafford GP.

When a referral for a child is accepted into our service we will contact the family and arrange to visit at home to discuss how TEDS may be able to help. We will then agree with the family what support can be offered which may be monitoring of developmental progress, Portage developmental play sessions at home or sometimes in Early Years settings or at a targeted group. We use the Portage model which is a small steps approach to developmental play (www.portage.org.uk). TEDS Team Around the Child meetings can help to bring familes together with professionals closley involved with their child to ensure good communication and coordination of care.

TEDS aims to support children and their families to achieve a quality of life and for children to access and participate fully in play opportunities, educational and social settings and to develop to their full potential.
