Trafford Educational Psychology Service

Trafford’s Educational Psychologists work with children, teaching staff, parents/carers and other agencies. They apply their understanding of psychology to identify teaching and learning strategies which will promote inclusion and wellbeing and improve educational outcomes for children and young people. All Trafford’s EPs are HCPC registered and have degrees in Educational Psychology, teacher training and teaching experience.

Trafford EPS can work with all schools, colleges and other educational providers within the local authority through our Service Level Agreement offer. This enables organisations to purchase time for EPs to work at an individual, class and/or whole-school level. Our work is prioritised and agreed during regular, termly consultations with key school staff. We may carry out direct individual assessments and/or interventions to support individual children or work in a consultative way with staff to support the needs of a wider group of children. Individual assessment work can include class observations, consultations with teaching staff and parents/carers as well as work with other professionals where appropriate. Direct assessments are summarised in a report which is completed and copied to schools, parents/carers and other agencies as appropriate.

We offer a wide range of bespoke whole school/in-service training packages for example; Attachment in the classroom, Precision Teaching, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Attention and Concentration, Promoting Positive Behaviour, Kids Skills. To discuss your training needs in more detail please contact Dr Karen Harris (Principal Educational Psychologist) or Steph Littleton (Senior Educational Psychologist).

We are also able to work as research partners with our clients through engaging in action research projects which support the wider development of pedagogy and continuing professional development within learning organisations.
