Musical Conversations - Nordoff Robbins

As we are continually adapting to the current climate, we are exploring new strands of delivering our services. Interactive music therapy sessions have obvious limitations when offered over Zoom.  But the process of learning and developing skills on an instrument can still offer a meaningful and purposeful creative activity - to those able to access this form of musical interaction - making the most of a time where connection is that much more difficult.

To that end, we are piloting our new initiative ‘Musical Conversations’ – an opportunity for a one-off, online or over-the-telephone conversation with one our therapists about music, to share musical interests and the role it plays in everyday life.

Unlike counselling or psychotherapy, the conversations won’t address specific personal problems or delve into a person’s psyche. Rather we hope it will enable people to focus on the potential benefits of music, listening to music and making music in the contexts of their own lives.

You don’t need to be knowledgeable about music or be an expert: the conversations simply offer a space in which you can talk about music and its connections to your life. You don’t need to reveal any personal information about yourself unless you want to.
