The Orchards Specialist School
Welcome to The Orchards Specialist School. We are proud to be a part of Bright Futures Educational Trust which links us with other inspirational and innovative schools in Trafford. At The Orchards we are passionate about providing our children with meaningful learning experiences which promote their development through a holistic curriculum. We focus on ensuring high quality outcomes through responding individually to each child’s point of learning and ensuring that we meet that point of learning by using creative, innovative and aspirational teaching or support.
At The Orchards we have a highly skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants who ensure that every child’s needs are met. Our teachers lead their class teams through shared outcomes which are informed by parents, families, therapists and multi-agency support teams. We believe in the power of truly inclusive provision and place that at the heart of our school’s mission and vision.
At The Orchards we celebrate every child and see each pupil as an individual. We want all our children to flourish and achieve their very best in a safe and stimulating learning environment. We encourage all our children to be reflective, creative and independent global citizens who are effective communicators and respectful of themselves and of others. We believe that by working collaboratively and that by building strong relationships with all stakeholders then we can provide the best opportunities to our learners and enable them to achieve their unique potential.

Admissions to The Orchards
The Orchards is a special free school for children of both sexes, aged 4-11 years, in an environment where students with identified and statemented/Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs) can access a specialised and holistic education that aims to develop children socially and academically to make maximum progress. We provide for students with statements/EHCPs for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD) and specialise in providing education for children with autism (ASC).
Admissions policy
For a child to be admitted, the school must be named, by a local authority, in the child’s Statement/EHCP. The Orchards will work in partnership with local authorities and parents/carers to assess the suitability of students for a place.
Parents wishing their children to benefit from our provision should ask their local authority to name our school in their child’s EHCP.
There will be no fee payable by the parents/carers for their child to attend the school. The school is unable to offer places to pupils whose families wish to pay such a fee.
