Pure Innovations Supported Internship at Manchester College
Supported Internships are aimed specifically at students with Education, Health and Care plans up to the age of 24 who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. If they are motivated about work and want to progress to paid employment, this course can help them on the path to success.
Students will access up to three different work placements, spending their time at an employer’s premises four days per week. They’ll have one short classroom session each day, and spend the remainder of the day training and working in real job roles, developing independence, exploring customer service and boosting their employability skills.
Along with specific work-related skills like food hygiene and manual handling, students will also benefit from improved communication abilities and the chance to deal with common problems that might arise. By the end of the programme, they will understand their career options and usually move into paid employment.
There are currently five locations of Supported Internships, which are located at the following:
- Manchester City Council
- Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
- Oxford Road
- Wythenshawe Hospital
- Media City, Salford Quays
- Manchester Airport
