Eccles Sixth Form College is renowned for it's animal management provision and facilities as well as unique partnership with the Manchester United Foundation. The college is situated in the leafy green suburb of Eccles.

Following an inspection by Ofsted in November 2015, Eccles Sixth Form College is officially a ‘Good’ college. The outstanding pass rates produced at Eccles reflect their vision of ensuring students are the best they can be. In fact, the college received a 100% Advanced Vocational pass rate across the board, in all subjects.

Ofsted: “The college has established a culture of high aspirations for student achievement. The high grades students achieve enable them to gain places at the most prestigious universities.”

The college is known for their prestigious links with the Manchester United Foundation as well as their excellent programme of elite courses that combine work experience with classroom-based learning.

Eccles is home to some of the most outstanding facilities in the country, specifically for animal care and management. The indoor and outdoor animal centre often steals the show at open events and community fun days; and with over 60 acres of land utilised by the department, including their own four acre, onsite facilities plus their partner facilities, it’s clear why.

The department has undertaken significant investment over the last couple of years to create the animal utopia it is today. Housing over 250 different species, including domestic and exotic species, students have access to a diverse selection of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and fish to enhance their studies. Some of the exciting newest additions include marmoset monkeys, capybara, alpaca, striped skunk, Asian water dragons, pygmy goats and much more.

If it’s equine you are interested in studying, then you’ll be based at Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre, in Bolton. The centre has been open since 1993 and houses more than 50 horses and ponies.

Sports facilities at the college are also second-to-none. In fact, sports facilities at Eccles have seen over 100K in investment in recent years.

They include a dedicated, purpose-built 4G sports pitch, a brand-new, fully equipped fitness suite and a sports performance laboratory with the most high-tech sport technology equipment. This is on top of the college’s multi-purpose sports hall and sports classrooms.

Whatever course you choose to study at the college, you’ll benefit from its impressive and extensive industry links, which create employment and work placement opportunities, as well as excellent chances for trips, visits and guest lecturers.

Perhaps you are interested in studying business? The college has paired up with the Career Ready Programme, an initiative which aims to prepare students for the world of work by linking colleges with businesses to offer students unique internships, work place visits and mentoring opportunities. This summer, one business student will be partaking in a six-week placement with ITV and other business links include KPMG, The Bank of New York Mellon and Morson Group – all global and hugely successful businesses.

If you are looking at studying sport, you’ll be immensely impressed by the college’s strong partnerships, including a collaboration with the Manchester United Foundation. The partnership allows the college to visit Old Trafford and put on training sessions with first team players and United coaches. The department also has strong links with the Football Association and Salford Community Leisure.

And that’s not all, when it comes to health and social care, the college partners with the Salford Royal NHS Trust to provide students on courses including the elite nursing cadet’s courses one of a kind work placements. Public services students will also benefit from the college’s links with the British Armed Forces and The Royal Navy.

On top of all of this, the college is located in a leafy, green and secure residential area. Eccles is the home to the world-famous Eccles cake and is on Manchester’s doorstep, making it the perfect place to study.

The college does all it can to ensure the safety and security of students and even provide a convenient bus service to and from the college, to help students get there and back safely.
