Coronavirus update - October 2020:
The CLDNT and CIBSS services continue to deliver face to face interventions, supporting children and Young people and families within their homes. Completing assessments / Positive Behaviour Support Plans/ Sleep assessments/ Intensive Behaviour Support/ Continence assessments / Health Action Plans/ Hospital Risk Assessments and other activities and support on clinical need.
We are also working and supporting children and staff within Special schools, following their COVID risk assessment, and Government and NHS guidance.
The clinical team of Community Learning Disability Nurses/Assistant Clinical Psychologist/Community Support Worker are also continuing to attend Child in Need Meetings/ Family Support Meetings/ Case Conferences / Educational Support Meetings and Educational Health Care Plan reviews via Microsoft teams.
For the Joint Assessment Clinics and Continence clinics we are now completing 1-1 phone consultations / initial assessments with parents which is proving effective in regards to cutting down the waiting times for
Emotional support for our families is always ongoing.
We continue to support a group of parents who started a parenting group before the self/social distancing; However we hope to offer this group of parents the opportunity to complete the course via a video link.
About our service
The Children's Learning Disability Nursing Service provides support services for Children and Young People up to the age of 18 who have significant and enduring learning disabilities with additional and complex needs such as challenging behaviour, complex health needs / physical and / or sensory impairment.
The team work across CYPS and liaise with Adult services in relation to transition to improve heath and wellbeing of learning disabled children.
