A World Inside A Book: Gruffalos, Dragons, and Other Creatures

Take a trip into the brilliant 3-D technicolour world of the best-loved picture book pairing, author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, with the immersive exhibition of their wonderful work.

From February 2019 until February 2020 families can come and see magic come to life as Z-arts is transformed into the magical worlds of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler with A World Inside A Book: Gruffalos, Dragons, and Other Creatures. The exhibition has been designed and created by Discover in London and will be here in Manchester for the first time when it comes to Z-arts in February!

Creep into a magical world of forests, miniature houses, dragons and other creatures. Can you spot The Gruffalo? Watch out, it might be a bit of A Squash and a Squeeze to get around the life-sized cow! Who’s that flying overhead, could it be Zog? Be The Smartest Giant in Town, climb through the cave of The Highway Rat, swing through the Monkey Puzzle jungle, discover the underwater world of Tiddler, set sail with The Snail and the Whale and take your seat for the ride of your life with The Room on the Broom.

Children and their grown-ups will enter the cosy living room of Charlie Cook’s  Favourite Book, where they’ll hear a story from the Z-arts Story Explorer. Then they get the chance to investigate and explore all of the different worlds recreated inside the exhibition – rivers and forests, beaches and seas – before taking part in arts and crafts activities to make your own Donaldson- and Scheffler-inspired masterpieces! A World Inside A Book: Gruffalos, Dragons, and Other Creatures is suitable for ages 0-8 years and their grown-ups.
