Firs Primary School Nursery

Firs Primary is a Community Primary School catering for children aged 3 – 11. We have three classes per year group (except for Reception and Year 1 which, for 23/24, currently have two classes each), a Nursery (for children aged 3-4) and two Small Specialist classes. We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds, which we utilise for sport, gardening, Forest School and lots of outdoor learning!

During our 2017 OFSTED inspection we were judged as "outstanding" in all areas and it was noted that "leaders are determined and uncompromising in their pursuit of a first-class education for all pupils."

We seek to bring out the best in each child, and in striving to achieve this we aim to offer a broad and balanced curriculum. We encourage the children to achieve their personal potential and encourage development of their individual talents.

The vision of Firs Primary School - Inspire, Believe, Achieve - is to create a safe, inclusve and respectful community that nurtures a lifelong love of learning, preparing our children for a world they know and a world they are yet to discover.

Our aim is to create a happy, friendly atmosphere within our school, where everyone can expect to be treated with courtesy, kindness and co-operation. We believe in enabling every individual, regardless of background, circumstance or ability to achieve their full potential and make positive contributions to society. Through an extensive cultural capital offer and a broad and balanced curriculum which reflects our school community, we aim to inspire our children to believe in their dreams and foster a ‘Growth Mindset’.

Our school is united by everyone's dedication to maximising pupil's personal development and wellbeing, creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. We believe a happy child is a successful one, therefore at the heart of our aspirations we aim to promote emotional wellbeing and mental health for all. You will often hear staff and pupils talk about "Firs family" as we all care and support each other, much like a family.

School Admissions (Reception to Year 6)

As a community primary school, we are maintained by the local authority. Therefore all school admissions are managed by Trafford Admissions team, including waiting lists for in-year admissions. Firs Primary School has no involvement in the allocation of places.

Please follow the link (http://www.trafford.gov.uk/educationandlearning/schooladmissions/) and find out further details. You can also telephone Trafford School Admissions team on 0161 912 5007.

Admission to Small Specialist Classes

Our school has 2 Small Specialist Classes for children with Social Communication Difficulties and/or Autism. Both classes have a maximum of 10 children in each. S1 Cedar is for children from Reception to Year 2 and S2 Larch is for children from Year 3 to Year 6. Children require an Educational Health Care Plan to be admitted to our Small Specialist Class and are only admitted to our Small Specialist Class on the recommendation from the Local Authority. The Local Authority are in charge of the admissions to these provisions and being a child at Firs Primary already does not give you a higher priority over a child from another school. The decision for a place is based on the level of need throughout the Local Authority.
