Louise Nixon

I have been a Childminder for 11 years. During my latest Ofsted Inspection (May 2022) I was graded 'Good', a copy of which can be accessed via link below.

I provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment in which your child has the opportunity to develop their individual personality and skills through play-based learning and focused activities within a small peer group.

Much opportunity and encouragement is given for the children to develop their communication & language skills through a variety of activities and group discussions throughout the day and particularly during our mealtimes, where we all sit & enjoy our food together whilst talking about a vast range of subjects!

I have both indoor and outdoor play areas offering a wide variety of experiences. My garden is a safe and secure area offering many opportunities for physical activity with a slide, swing, trikes, cars, seesaw, large construction, sand & water, along with a variety of sports equipment and games. Indoors has everything from books, dressing up clothes, puppets and roleplay, construction and exploration, home corner, musical instruments coupled with song & dance activities, smallworld characters & playsets and numeracy & literacy activities.

Storytime is a daily part of our routine. We take part in structured activities such as arts and crafts and baking, and participate in regular outings to child-based groups, for example: local libraries, parks, Stay & Play groups, soft-play centres, seasonal picnics and exploratory trips within the local community and further afield.

I have strong links with others local childminders, which ensures opportunities for the children to be part of larger groups and develop a wide circle of friends. I strongly believe in the importance of daily outdoor activity and adventure, to equip children with the skills of resilience, perseverance, physical development and measured risk-taking, along with developing their understanding of nature, the environment and communities. I promote these through all year round outings and picnics, as well as incorporating the 'Curiosity Approach' into many of our activities, helping children to recognise their unique place in the world.
