Home Fire Safety Assessment

A Home Fire Safety Assessment (HFSA) is a free home visit by the Fire and Rescue Service. During the visit we will provide fire safety advice and equipment depending on risk.

What is a Home Fire Safety Assessment visit?

A Home Fire Safety Assessment visit is a person-centred home visit where we will:

  • Visit your home at a convenient time.
  • Carry out a room by room safety check of your property identifying and making you aware of any potential fire risks.
  • Ensure you have a working smoke alarm on each floor level that you use and if you don’t, we may fit a free ten year smoke alarm where appropriate.
  • Help you put together an escape plan in case a fire breaks out in the future.

Online Home Fire Safety Check

Professionals can find out whether their service user is eligible for a HFSA by carrying out an Online Home Fire Safety Check: HFSC (safelincs.co.uk)

You will need the agreement of who you are working with in order to refer them to us.

Ideally the check should be carried out with them to ensure all questions can be answered.

At the end of the check you will be provided with online fire safety advice that can be printed off and handed to the person directly.

If they are eligible for a visit, you will be asked to submit their and your contact details. We will then telephone you or your service user directly to arrange their HFSA.
