The Guardian Project
The Guardian Project is a project run by NESTAC that coordinates care and support across Greater Manchester for girls and young women (up to 21 years of age) affected by or at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM). Advice, support and guidance is available for all professionals working to safeguard girls and young women from FGM across Greater Manchester.
The guardian project can provide the following services to safeguarding professionals:
•Support with FGM cases where children and young girls are to be safeguarded
•Provision of specialist, individual culturally appropriate services for children and young people
•Preparation for FGM physical examination for children and young girls and production of expert reports for Court purpose.
•Risk / Needs assessment on FGM
•Provision on Advice and Guidance
Services are free of charge across Greater Manchester
