Area Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)
The role of the Area SENCO is primarily to support SENCOs in early years settings. This includes providing advice and practical support about how to identify, assess and intervene with children with SEN and those who are Disabled (SEND).
The Area SENCO also helps make the links between education, health and social care to organise appropriate early provision for children with SEND. The Area SENCO plays an important part in supporting transfer of children with SEND between early years provision and schools.
