North Family Support Team
The role of a Senior Family Support Practitioner is very varied, they provide support to vulnerable families at an early intervention level by utilising multi-agency working through the Early Help Assessment process, alongside assertive working methods to empower families to address their problems in a way that sustains positive change across social, environmental and economic areas and prevent new problems arising.
We deliver regular parenting courses such as Incredible Years and Escape. IncredibleYears courses are usually run starting January, March and September.
We also hold a caseload of families that require intensive family support. As part of our work with the other Area Family Support Teams we also work with families that have been deescalated from child protection and child in need sometimes co-working the case if intensive parenting/ child interventions are needed that are not being provided by other services.
We also provide support to other professionals around the Early help process and provide advice re behaviour management and child emotional regulation.
We also sit on the weekly panel providing support for practitioners with cases requiring guidance from a multi-agency team approach as well as providing agencies with a forum to discuss referrals for early family support. Cases for referral support by the team will be allocated or declined at this panel meeting.
