    Trafford Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) - Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (mft.nhs.uk)  provides emotional and mental health assessment and treatment to children and young people aged 0-18 years and their families and carers.   We offer support to professionals such as school staff, GP’s and school nurses who are working with children and young people within Trafford. 

    We are part of a wider comprehensive network working to the THRIVE Model (THRIVE Framework (annafreud.org)).  Helping to promote the importance of good mental health and ensure CAMHS is everyone’s business.  We work closely with our partner agencies including Just Psychology, 42nd St, Early Help Services, Talkshop and Children’s Social Care.   As a multiagency network we can offer support in lots of different ways to make sure there is something suitable for everyone.   We can also signpost and help you access other types of help within the THRIVE Model.

    The CAMHS team comprises of child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, specialist nurses, systemic family therapists, social workers, and other specialist therapists. Children and young people experiencing a range of mental health disorders will be assessed by a member of the team and, together with family and carers, a treatment care plan will be agreed.

    Parking Information 

    The car park entrance is on Claremont Road, Sale, M33 7LN. There are a small number of clearly marked (CAMHS) parking spaces for young people and their families to use. The car park is used by other businesses so please park in the CAMHS designated bays.

    Public transport

    Oriel Court is easily accessible by public transport. It is close to Sale Metrolink station and several bus routes.

    Self Referral Form

    We accept written referrals from health, education, and social care professionals. We also accept self-referrals and referrals from parents and carers. A referral to the CAMHS team can be made in writing by using the relevant referral form above and returning it to us by post or email.

    The Complex Needs (children social care) consists of 2 teams; a short break team and a social work team. 

    The Short Breaks Team

    The short breaks team consists of a Local offer Advisor and 3 social care reviewing officer who will undertake a short break assessment on request for children with disabilities and their families. 

    The short break team will help families identify support in the community from universal services to targeted short breaks.  In some circumstances a direct payment or a personal budget may be available. 

    The short break team use an eligibility criteria to help families understand what services are available:

    The Social Work Team

    The social work team consists of five social workers, senior practitioner and a team leader.  They provide social work services for children with learning disabilities or certain complex or life limiting physical disabilities.  We undertake children in need, children looked after or children in need of protection work. 

    The team are co-located at Sale Waterside alongside:

    Community Paediatricians

    Speech and Language Therapists

    Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists

    Community Learning Disability Nursing Team

    Trafford Early Development Service

    Neuro-Developmental Pathway

    Community Orthoptic Service

    The team work closely with these other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for the child and family.
