Trafford Wildcats Inclusive Basketball

Trafford Wildcats

DOSportUK is a community interest company which aims to provide sporting and physical activity opportunities to people with a disability. Our focus sport is basketball which we use as a vehicle to help improve the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of people with a disability. We have developed a series of learning disability basketball sessions across Greater Manchester and Derbyshire offering weekly sessions based around fun, fitness, and learning the game of basketball!

Trafford Wildcats is based out of Lostock High School. The sessions run from 6pm-7pm every Thursday and all ages and abilities are welcome. We encourage new members to give us a call before you show up and the first session is always free to see if you enjoy the group.

Outside of the weekly sessions we offer further opportunities within the sport for members to upskill themselves as coaches and volunteers and we also work closely with Special Olympics Great Britain and Basketball England to offer competitions and events for people with a learning disability of all ability levels.

There is no eligibility criteria as such, we just recommend that people come and check out the group first to see if they will like the sessions and benefit from them. We work hard to get a solid team of volunteers in to be able to support everyone the best we can. We do ask that if you need 1-1 support that you can bring it with you!

When working with Special Olympics there is an eligibility criteria set out for competition which can be discussed further down the line.
